    good quality
We purchased the Arcadia Garden Products Coconut 1593 Solstice Round Hanging Basket Planters (20-Inch, Black) in the spring, and they’ve been fantastic all summer! Our Boston ferns had plenty of room to grow large and lush, and the baskets held up beautifully through the season. They’re sturdy, stylish, and still look great after months of use. We’re thrilled that we’ll be able to use them again next growing season — definitely a great investment for any garden or porch!

Very Pleased. Heavy duty cage and thick coconut liner.
The metal cage is heavy duty. It seems to be thick metal with good welds not just spot welded. It also has what looks to be a good, thick, plastic coating on it which should help prevent it from rusting longer than most. The coconut liner is thick; you can’t see light through this one and you won’t accidentally poke your fingers through it when planting. When you water, dirt doesn’t flush through it. The liner is also large enough to fill the cage and stick up above it a little. A close-up piture is attached so you can see the details a little better.

    Beautiful hanging planters!
I purchased 5 of these large planters for 5 large ferns I had that were very rootbound. The planters are wonderful! However when full with a large plant and soil, they are VERY heavy! My husband weight one and it was 68 lbs. We upgraded our hanging hardware to heavy weight eye bolts and changed out our S hooks to heavy weight caribeners.

    Excellent buy, with two caveats
Nicely made with thick flat slats, sturdy smooth finish and excellent soldering. Price is higher in garden stores for a similar product. Far better quality in both the basket and liner than all the cheaper versions made of thin round wire and thin liners available for half (or less) the price, here on the site. Due to the quality, it is heavier, which is good to keep in mind when you consider the total weight filled with soil and plants.Only two possible cons, as others have mentioned:One, the chains are not attached to the basket using the typical clasps. The three chains attach to the basket with fully closed heavy gauge hooks. So they can’t be removed during planting or if the links need untwisting — or if, as I do, you intend to lazily drop the whole huge hanging fern right in, plastic pot and all and then snip off the plastic hook it came with. I briefly considered returning for that reason. But the quality is so much better than any others I could find on Amazon. Instead, with some effort and about 30 minutes time, I opened each of the three hooks a bit using clamp and pliers. Worked beautifully and the chewed up finish from the pliers is hidden under the fern. I deducted one star for this. Two, the chains are indeed a bit shorter than most 14” diameter hanging baskets. So do measure. This never bothers me as I always use a decorative wrought iron S-hook so the fern hangs lower in this spot on my porch. (They’re available here on Amazon in many lengths and styles, just search that phrase.)Looks really lovely installed, like a much more expensive high end product.

well made window basket, easy to hang
well built sturdy, deeper that all the others, It was easy to hang, but you will need 1.5-2″ size 12-14 screws!!!!!!!!!! comes with little tiny screws and plastic anchor bolts as if you were hanging on an interior wall.I have 30-40 lbs of soil in there. make alot of pesto so basil plants in there and some annuals for color and fill when I cut down basil, and await regrowth. ( also small enough I have a plant cover for winter, ( bought one on amazon but cut to fit!))so again, unless you are putting planting plants in it, save screws for something else and go to your local hardware store and get some with heft!

Chain broke as soon as I hung, and the soil was DRY!!!
Inexcusably poor quality chains. I spent 30 minutes on preparing the basket wiith plants and soil. When I went to hang the first one (which still had mostly dry soil) one of the chains snapped which then caused a cascading effect and the other two broke. Plants destroyed. I took some of the remaining chain and pulled to see how strong it was and it was probably 10 or 12 lbs of pressure when it broke. It’s not hard to calculate the weight of soil in a container based on cubic inches and it seems they didn’t bother to factor in what it was actually designed to do. If the basket was wet (you know, because plants get watered) the chains wouldn’t stand a chance. Never mind wind, etc. I ordered 8. Checked the chain on another to make sure it wasn’t an anomaly. It wasn’t. I’m going to keep them anyway because I don’t have a choice – I already planted. I’ll just go to HD and get new chains to attach. But this is an inexcusably bad design flaw. If you intend to hang the basket I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

    Heavy and sturdy
I read about these in a blog. You’ll definitely need a lot of potting soil. I blended moisture control, organic mix, Fox Farm and an airy perlite mixture. My husband installed reinforced brackets that would hold the weight of these. He had to lift them for me because they are very heavy. He was able to remove one side of the chain so I could plant my fern, then reattached it.I was skeptical the ferns would grow large enough to cover the basket but they are. These should hold up for years to come and I love that I can grow larger ferns. Using some moisture control soil was nice so I don’t have to water as often. My ferns with these baskets look impressive on the porch for the summer. No more ugly green plastic pots or trying to get the coco liner in a cheap wire basket to cover the plastic pot. These also hang evenly unlike the nursery pots. They do take up a lot of room as they are wide. You might want to get a sturdy chain to lower the pot as the chains on these are a little short.I would hang a black chain from the porch hook and then place the basket chain into the other end of that chain. I hope that makes sense.

Finally a basket large enough to hold enough dirt and water for plants to live in a sunny hot space. Pricey, but very very sturdy to withhold the weight as they are heavy before plants and growing medium is added.
