I like the clock overall–the design, look, wood, movement, and accuracy. It arrived well packaged and protected, from the body to the hands. Though the light ivory color I got came with clean black hands, not bent, twisted, or damaged, and already correctly attached, there are instructions included for attaching an alternate set of gold hands that they include, if you prefer. I like the black that were already installed because of the contrast on the light-colored wood face–it is easier to see than the gold alternative and the black hands match the black metal border. I set the time and installed 1 AA battery. Use the wheel on the back to adjust the time–not the hands. They recommend a carbon zinc AA battery. I asked Rufus about batteries for this clock and apparently carbon zinc have less risk of leaking because they are lower output than alkaline and clocks with these movements only need a low output power source. Rufus also stated that the longevity of the clock mechanism/movement itself should be better using the lower output carbon zinc, so I ordered some for the clock. The timekeeping has been in lockstep with my digital clock for days, so it is very accurate and functions as it should. The hanging hardware is included, and the clock has metal posts at 12, 4, and 8 on the back of the circular frame that will keep the clock parallel to the wall, about 1 inch from the wall. This helps keep it stable and faced straight out. These posts have a flattened and rounded contact point with the wall so they will not harm it in any way. The thickness of the wood face is ~3/8″. The face looks good overall. Mine has a natural knot spot above the ‘X’ (10 o’clock) and another smaller one above the ‘L’ in ‘LONDON’ (see pic). This is fine to me–just wood being wood. The clock is large with large, readable roman numerals and well-contrasted black hands. I liked the light ivory numerals because they have a softer look to me, and I like it not having a second hand. Second hands are distracting and stressful to a degree, however small, despite their extra rare/occasional benefit, so I am glad this clock has no second hand. If I put my ear right up on the movement on the back, I think I can barely hear something in the way of a gear tick but am not sure, so consider it silent. The numbers, minutes, and lettering for ‘OLD TOWN CLOCK’ and ‘LONDON’ are nice, but I think they could be a bit cleaner in the routing, and the chosen font could have a little more style in my opinion, as it couldn’t really be any more basic-looking. This clock’s proportion, at 2′ in diameter, is a large clock, and I think a clock of this size looks most appropriate and proportioned in a space with 10′ or higher ceiling. It looks fine in a room with 8′ ceiling, but bigger than it may need to be. I have a very small concern about the clock only taking 1 AA battery. I don’t know yet how often it will need a fresh one, but I would prefer it could accommodate 2, or 4 even, to reduce the number of times I will have to remove it to give it a fresh battery. These clocks will look good with different decors–nice for an office, rec room, living room where coffee is to be served, or in a high/vaulted/cathedral-ceilinged entryway space. They describe it as ‘classic farmhouse-style’ decor. I feel it has sort of a ‘modern country’ look/feel to it. This clock is an overall good value, and I am quite pleased with it.

I was really looking forward to this. What a disappointment. I cannot believe it costs $89. The product looks very cheap, with cheap plywood, crooked mount, very cheap metal. Even if I saw it at a thrift store for $10 I wouldn’t buy it. I would be embarrassed to hang it up in any room of my house, including the basement. It’s difficult to show via this photo but you can see the Roman numerals are very cheaply ‘carved’ into the very thin plywood.As far as functionality, time retention, or noise level, it works ok. Noise level is fine, although I don’t mind loud clocks. Its size is the problem: it is, as described, quite large. This means it should be a statement piece. But as I say, it is too cheaply made to be any kind of statement. I actually have an outdoor Tiki hut I’d be embarrassed to put it there. It looks like something a 10 year old might make in a week long municipal summer camp. Only that would be charming. This is not charming. I’m sorry but this is such a big disappointment.
